Clinical Mentor (Pedorthics)

As part of the team supporting our network of Certified Canadian Pedorthists and independent clinics, you will own your expertise by sharing information and knowledge to not only help them better serve their clients, but to help their clinic improve their level of clinical excellence.

To help us ensure clients receive top notch care and products, we are looking for several Clinical Mentors (Pedorthics) to offer their services to the BioPed Home Office Clinical Operations Team.
About the Clinical Mentor, Pedorthics role:
As an experienced and respected Canadian Certified Pedorthist, your goal is to help our C. Ped. (C)’s “own” their role and achieve confidence in offering products and services to their clients and referring medical professionals.
You’ll do this by:
- Consulting, educating and coaching on the Pedorthic skillset. Offering sound advice that is based on clinical practice guidelines, BioPed and industry best practices and efficiencies.
- Identifying opportunities for the clinicians to grow their knowledge in all therapeutic areas offered at BioPed – Custom Orthotics, Footwear, Bracing, Compression Therapy and Medical Footcare. With a primary focus being on assessing for, casting for, fabricating and dispensing the custom made orthotic and footwear – fittings, modifications, custom.
- Identifying opportunity and liaising with home office regarding the need for best clinical practice documents, training programs and learning tools for clinicians.
- Ensuring compliance with organizational policies and external regulations by monitoring and evaluating standards while managing relationships with the College of Pedorthics and Pedorthic Association of Canada.
- Collaborating with the Medical Footcare and Operations Field Teams to offer the best in clinic services.
- Discussing treatment options, preparing treatment plans, and making referrals with peers.
- Assisting in the development of learning materials may be required, but is not a focus.
- Understanding the clinical excellence metric at BioPed, and working to help clinics/clinicians improve theirs

About this opportunity with BioPed Footcare:
You would be contracted for 1 day/week. Weekdays only. The role will include some travel and clinical visits across the BioPed network of clinics. Assigned clinics will be part of a particular region, which you would be assigned to. Region preference can be discussed at the interview. You will plan and manage your schedule to optimize and grow the Pedorthic program at BioPed. You’ll earn a competitive fee, where travel expenses will also be covered. As you provide services to the Clinical Operations Team, you will be well supported. The Chief Medical Officer will be your primary point of contact and will offer guidance to support you.
Role Requirements:
- Valid Canadian Certified Pedorthist designation for 3+ years.
- Ability to consult on all aspects of lower limb care at BioPed – Custom Foot Orthotics, Knee, Ankle, Foot Bracing, Footwear Fittings & Modifications, Compression Therapy.
- Any Managerial/Coaching experience is preferred.
- Experience with a variety of custom orthotic casting techniques is preferred – foam box, plaster, Voxelcare/3D digital scanning, Amfit, etc.
- Experience with custom knee bracing is necessary, and a willingness to learn and teach 3D scanning for Osskin knee bracing.
- Access to a vehicle with a valid driver’s license and insurance.
